However, for those on the fence of which console to purchase the games it offers is a big part of that decision, especially at launch. With the Xbox One X and PS4 offering a lot of games this holiday season, the games that launch exclusively for next-gen or those that can be upgraded from the previous generation is crucial. We've compiled a growing list of titles for both the Xbox Series X and PS5 that are scheduled to release at launch.
These lists will continue to be updated as more dates are confirmed. The Xbox Series X and S are set to release November 10 and while Halo: Infinite was originally scheduled to be a launch title for Microsoft's next-gen console it needs more time and will release sometime in The biggest fighting game is the revival of Killer Instinct, which is exclusive to the Xbox One. You've also got Fighter Within, which is a Kinect-exclusive fighter from Ubisoft, but it's not a traditional fighter to some gamers.
While it's not a new fighter, the PS4 version is the only next generation port, and includes all of the DLC that has released since the original launch of the game. So both consoles can fill your fighting game fix, but neither console really has a strong showing, especially when compared to previous console launches. Other Beyond the genres listed above, there are a few other games releasing for both platforms. The PlayStation 4 also has quite a large indie game scene with a good number of smaller downloadable titles.
So there's really something for everyone no matter which console you choose to go with. Of course, the best course of action is to simply own both consoles for the best of both worlds.

When it comes to launch exclusives the Xbox One has the upper hand five to the PS4's two but there's not many must-haves right now.
Killer Instinct for the Microsoft console and Resogun for Sony's box both look like straight forward fun - the former a frenetic, visually busy beat-em-up, and the latter a, um, frenetic, visually busy shooter - whilst the PS4's latest Killzone will certainly outshine the Xbox One's graphical-spectacular Ryse : Son of Rome. However, if we've got to call a winner then Microsoft's addition of Dead Rising 3 just gives it the edge. Click here to read our list of seven best Xbox One launch titles.
Really though you're going to have wait for the best games for both titles. The Xbox One will be getting Halo 5 and perhaps the most eagerly-awaited shooter for both consoles, the one-man-and-his-mecha title Titanfall. Meanwhile the PS4 will be getting the industrial revolution based, alternative-history title The Order: and will also see the super-powered Cole MacGrath return for Infamous: Second Son.
However, the game that looks like it will offer the most fun in early is Bungie's Destiny, a title that's exciting not only for its beautifully imagined sci-fi setting, but for the developer's promise of a 'living' game world, with MMO elements blending seamlessly with traditional shooter fun. Fortunately this one is available for both the PS4 and the Xbox One.
Happy gaming. This year however, both companies will be charging users for online services that you might have expected to be part of the ticket price. Microsoft also offers freebies but the quality of the titles just don't match up. In a straight battle between the Kinect and the PS4 Eye Microsoft is certainly the winner, though there is the question of whether gamers want the features it offers. I have a feeling they will — the log-in feature is creepy but will prove useful, whilst HD Skype calls will certainly be worthwhile.
