Stagger them. Trim off the tongues but not the grooves of pieces of flooring that will be placed against your first wall. If your knife is sharp it will be the easiest tool to use, but you can also use a mechanical saw. Just use spacers. At the end of each row, remember again to measure twice and cut once. For the second row, do the same thing, but this time, hold that first piece at an angle, inserting the tongue into the groove of the first row.

Again, tap the pieces to be snug with their neighbors. Always tap toward the first piece. Cut pieces to fit around these openings. Also, be careful when working around open registers. Keep installing planks until you are at the last row. This will have to be cut from end to end to fit. Remember to retain a gap for your baseboard molding. You will likely want some form of power saw to make this lengthwise cut.

Make sure you mark the cut line. Now that your laminate has been successfully installed, in reverse order of uninstalling, reinstall baseboards, vent covers and obstacles. If you are working in a house that has settled and has dramatically uneven floors, your room is not square or the walls bulge or present gaps, you may want to have an experienced set of eyes evaluate your flooring.
